then I got the display installed but the bracket isn't that strong, might need to cut a thicker one.

also there's not really a battery but I think I got that part figured out

one very important hacker skill is knowing when it's time to bust out the hacksaw

the cool thing is it has onboard battery charging (with charge level visible to the OS which is super hard to get with the PI) plus enough pins to drive a super-cheap LCD; the pocketchip used it with a PSP display which are a dime a dozen on ebay.

basically designed from the ground up for the handheld use-case, whereas with the pi there are a lot of awkward missing bits.

unfortunately audio cut out for a couple minutes in the middle but came back before too long

the difference in the dev flow is like night and day; I got much further than I had in the past in much less time.

I still prefer the ESP32 when it's an option but in cases where I'm tied to Arduino hardware this is a far better way to go than using C

@pho4cexa if you get the new one, keep the old edition around; the new one drops the explanation of the adder/half-adder which was one of my favorite sections

I've been moving my photos off flickr; it's pretty easy to find a way to dump photos on a web host and have them viewable to anyone.

what's nontrivial is coming up with a way to get new photos from my mobile into that directory on my web host.

on any reasonable OS, writing that myself would take an afternoon or two, but since I'm stuck with Android, it feels next-to-impossible.
