I’d really like it a lot more if delivery drivers rang the doorbell, so people that are there inside the house would come out and receive packages. I see by the tracking that they left it on the porch at 14:00 CDT, but neither #sonTwo nor his wife have texted to say they received it.
#Daddy_A received his package and acknowledged it earlier, so I know they got their stuff.
-
#Daddy_A tells me that the shipment arrived. #Toddler_A3 and #Little_Boy_A2 went straight for the books, ignoring their clothing.
-
Shipped some stuff for #Daddy_A's kids and #sonTwo's kid. I have to wait for payday before I buy & ship to #sonOne's kids.
The reason I shipped these now is that I included clothing and three of the four recipients are two and under. If I wait, they might outgrow their gifts.

Really wishing it wasn't already 22:00 where #sonOne, #sonTwo, #Daddy_A are. I'd like to videochat with them so they can see the new haircut and shave and tell me how they think I look.
-
It is hard to believe my little Sponge Bob fan, #Daddy_A, is going to be thirty soon. It seemed like he would stay twelve forever.
-
In today's phone calls with #sonTwo, we're trying to arrange a videochat between him and his wife & child, me, and #Daddy_A and his wife & children. #sonOne's work schedule changed recently, so we'll skip involving him this time.

@kai @bthall
https://emojipedia.org/grimacing-face/ ? is what #Daddy_A sends me when I call him by his childhood nickname.
"I still think that for most people, the value proposition of college is very poor."
I agree. I don't think we're helping by telling people they *have to* pile up $100K of unsheddable student loan debt or they'll spend their lives working in #Gree-C-Burger. Most people would probably be better off in an on-the-job training program or apprenticeship, or even a trade school / vocational school.

#sonTwo was in too many fights as a 6th grader, even though "fight" was him standing there and letting someone else hit him. The school threatened to send him to the county's juvenile detention center for his daily classes.
Meanwhile, #Daddy_A's school was near a racially-troubled high school, and the bigger kids' mass fights (school district: "they were not race riots") spilled over onto his campus, so he was afraid to go back.
Thank God for charter schools. Neither one of them would have made it without them.

Both #sonTwo and #Daddy_A used to work at #Target. #sonOne and his wife worked at #Walmart.
-
#Daddy_A sent me a picture of #Little_Boy_A (age 6) and #Little_Boy_A2 (age 2.5) playing games on the #Switch I got them. The younger one is gigantic. He's within an inch of his older brother's height and seemingly heavier. The older one is already taller than most of his classmates.
-
#Daddy_A and I are swapping memories of when he and his brother were in middle school and high school. Like the time we were on a school trip and he fell down a hill into a patch of cactus. That one almost resulted in a helicopter flight to a hospital. It had been cool that morning, so I made him take his coat. The coat was ruined, but most of the cactus spines were stopped by it.
-
I still occasionally call one of the kids by his childhood nickname. This time it was #Daddy_A, who is slightly embarrassed by the nick.
-
I reminded #Daddy_A that at one point, the Iraq war was going poorly and there were rumors that the US was going to reinstate the draft in order to supply the numbers they needed there. I had decided that I would attempt to sneak he and #sonTwo into Mexico (with the help of a nephew that is a Mexican citizen) if the draft happened.
We were talking about all the different family members who helped me raise them after the mother married a guy who wanted nothing to do with teen boys.
-
Too late. I was going to call #Daddy_A and try to get a few minutes of conversation with grandkids.
-
Because we were both doing maintenance around the house, #sonTwo and I split our call into three. I messsed up and put the part in backwards, so I'll have to redo my task. Family day at Home Depot, I guess.
#sonOne was at work, so we had no phone call this week.
#Daddy_A and I chatted on #Wire at the same time as Mark and I were conversing via SMS.
Finally, co-worker S called and we were on the phone about two hours and forty minutes (talking about $EMPLOYER and life after $EMPLOYER).
Full day. I'm going to go to bed now. #TZAF

Speaking of grandkids, #Daddy_A tells me that both boys (age 2.5 and 6) are enjoying “Mario Party” for the #Switch, which was in their March / April gift shipment. No word on whether their younger sister #Toddler_A3 is enjoying her items. Also, #sonTwo tells me that #GS3 is gaining weight and is back up to his birth weight, and his father-in-law who never seemed to be thrilled about having my son in his family, is completely charmed by the grandson and is warming up.
-
I was going to send this to #Daddy_A (age 29), but he's a seasoned pro at ignoring my provocations. #sonTwo (age 31) would point out that he's the one that got me started drinking #coffee. #sonOne (age 41) would point out that he drinks something that looks like coffee-flavored motor oil. So I'll just put this here instead.
"Boomers tend to drink coffee instead of energy drinks because at least coffee tastes good."

#Daddy_A confirms that they are safe. Some other relatives are in #NE towns that are surrounded by floodwaters, but his part of town is miles away from the current flooding.
-
Suddenly realized that it has been almost a week since I got any messages from #Daddy_A. Since @geniusmusing sent a link to an article that claims #NE is having “historic” flooding, I asked his brother ( #sonTwo ) whether he’s heard anything. He said he had heard about floods in Nebraska, but that’s all he knows.
It is after bedtime there now, but I’ll send messages and try to call him tomorrow morning.
-
I informed #sonTwo I’m not going to be in #MO when #GS3 is born. It also looks like #Daddy_A won’t make the trip from #NE.
