I’ve already had my daily #YoCo ( #yogurt / #yoghurt and #coffee ), navigated around a online forum conflict, had a couple of personal conversations over #Wire and #XMPP, been greeted by an excited three year old (sister’s granddaughter), and tuned in to @sir’s coding stream. #TZAG -

I chose #Prosody because people I knew were using it. When I spun up an #XMPP sever at work years ago, I ran Jive ( now #OpenFire ) because they also made Spark, the client we used. (Sadly, the test was successful, and $EMPLOYER chose to go with Lync / Skype.) -

One individual asked another individual which !XMPP server software the second person had used. I responded with the names of the two that I usually see in the “single user or small group” context. No one was “recommending” software, nor was anyone seeking recommendations. In that context, mentioning #Tigase #XMPP server would have been the wrong thing to do. -

I am aware of the public server ( sure.im and other names ), and I am aware of the Tigase client software for #Android. I am not unaware of your project. But if the project is now looking to expand into small scale use, I’m glad to hear it. -

In the above post from 2108-12-09, I said "Those are the two !XMPP servers that most people seem to use." -

That way, a server or client that claims compatibility is guaranteed to support a certain set of useful features, such as OTR, OMEMO, file transfers, and voice & video chatting.
But otherwise, the issue is that the other party to the earlier conversation isn't using #XMPP. -

Most of the fiddly and confusing parts of the Riot interface are simple and understandable by normies in Wire. I don't have much data, but the IRL contacts I'm reaching now were unreachable for some time previously.
(I still prefer #XMPP, but I'm able to communicate with people on Wire that I couldn't reach after Google moved them to hangouts instead of federated XMPP.) -

(I wonder what the remaining issue with ChatSecure is? The tracking ticket is closed, apparently successfully.)
