The field guy was explaining why #PR calls them "municipality" (municipio) instead of "city" (ciudad). In the US, we have county and then city or town or village or whatever. Here, they have only one level of local government.

W, one of our local #TechTeam members was going to pick up an anniversary present for his wife. The store is 8 miles (more likely 8 kilometers) away, but it took 30 minutes to get there. Friday night #traffic_congestion is surprising in the San Juan #PR metro area, because it doesn't feel like nearly three million people live here. I know he's glad I covered his late shift.

A co-worker called to tell me he's leaving #PR soon and wanted to ask whether $EMPLOYER would pay to ship his (assigned agency-owned) tools to one of the offices in his home state.
.
Then another co-worker who is leaving soon called to tell me about an office in his home state that was recently turned over to another agency, and to ask whether I'd heard about it. Answer: I heard the rumor, but the timing was different.
.
I did talk to #sonTwo

@ghostdancer Oh, yeah, everything is in Spanish here. I'm in Puerto Rico for a few more months. #PR

Adjusted my watch to continue tracking US-Central. I have to remember it is now 2 hours behind #PR's local time (AST).

23:00 in #PR. Past my bedtime. Good night, all. #TZAG

No #DST in #PR, so time will not change here.

Gabe’s agency is rotating out the teams from the training camp in February and March. I’ve been mostly working with them since the camp. I feel like I watched them grow up. Today is their last day in #PR.

I've never actually seen a Ben & Jerry's store before. #PR https://nu.federati.net/attachment/183652

I’m feeling some anger today. The travel reimbursement office rejected the cost of transporting $EMPLOYER’s tools from #PR to #SoCal. I’m having to write an appeal letter that doesn’t include “take these tools and shove them up your ...”.
-
It’s already afternoon in #PR and I am still sitting here in #SoCal in my pajamas.
Time to get moving. #Timezones_Stink

I should probably walk to the store and try to find something for #Baby_A3. I normally try to send all three siblings gifts at the same time, but being in #PR and mostly relying on #Amazon purchases made it much more difficult to accurately forecast delivery dates.
#Toddler_A2 already has his gift, while #Little_Boy_A’s gift is sitting in my bedroom.

Mostly cloudy, 79F, relative humidity 84% in San Juan #PR. Wind: E at 14MPH according to #Accuweather.
-
@wakest The local English-language paper here in #PR said almost the same thing this weekend. (Newark-Liberty NWK was worst, but JFK was pretty far down).
-
Also, #PR police closing its mounted patrol unit, putting desk officers on the streets, claims 20% reduction in violent crime. http://www.sanjuanweeklypr.com/pdf/Oct-08-18/local.pdf

#PR says they've restored 80% of traffic signals to functionality. http://www.sanjuanweeklypr.com/pdf/Oct-08-18/local.pdf
Note: the three traffic lights nearest where I'm staying were fixed and working, but have been out of service for over a month. Two of the three nearest the park-and-ride are working.

Put crunchy foods and snacks in press-to-seal (zip lock) baggies and squeeze out the air before sealing.
.
That's something I picked up here in #PR, where humidity will decrunch nuts, chips, and so on.

I've killed three #muskies in my dwelling the past couple of days. I hate mosquitoes, perhaps because I'm selfish about letting them take my blood. Three doesn't sound like a lot until you realize that I'm on the 4th floor, so they have to fly higher than one would expect them to normally fly. (Yes, my windows is open. This is hot and steamy #PR.)

A guy that managed one of the offices I supervised in #MO has been in #PR for a while, managing one of $EMPLOYER's offices here. He saw me today and asked why I wasn't in charge of field offices this time. "You're the most qualified by far."
My answer ("They chose to give someone else that job.") didn't satisfy him. But I don't get paid any more as a manager than I do if I'm mopping floors, so why should I be concerned if someone else does that job?
